Triangle t Guest Ranch page 2 Dragoon, AZ. Case # B-213

The first group arrived at 5pm to the Triangle t ranch where we met with Tonia Larson, our initial contact and assistant to ranch owner Linda Kelly. We spoke with her about reported activity as she gave us a tour of the ranch focusing on the areas of interest. There had been an older spirit of a native American woman, who's name is difficult to pronounce but goes by the title of "Grandmother". Her Tee Pee had been located at the site and she has been seen at one of the casitas there dubbed as the "grandmother's room". She is a spirit who sometimes waits for you to ask permission to enter the casita before allowing you to open the door. If you don't, you may find opening the door difficult.
In the upper dining room, there has been reports of the "Maid", a woman with dark hair pulled up in a bun/buns, being seen in the doorways. In the lower dining room, there has been reports of the sounds of a card game going on, which continues to this day. A man has been seen standing by the stage coach, located in front of the saloon a ways that seems to disappear upon taking a second look. At the "bunk house", there were witnesses who described one house keeper being knocked down and held there briefly, unable to get back up for several moments. Arizona Republic reporter Scott Craven along with photographer Tom Tingle were there when the second and third groups from T.Az.P.S. arrived. We all had the opportunity to speak with the newspaper representatives, who were as curious as to what the evening had in store for us as we were.
We focused on the main dining room to see if we could capture the "maid" apparition that had been reportedly seen there. Core members determined where base camp for the DVR and monitor would be. We brought in the T.Az.P.S. Jacobs Ladder and decided to keep it in the lower dining room for it's operation later in the evening. IR camera and TLD audio placement was also determined and set up began. All members were divided into groups and went to different areas of the ranch. Areas included the bunk house, the "Grandmother's room", the "labyrinth" area and last was the upper and lower levels of the main dining room. All members had their own hand held equipment with them and the night began.

the investigation:

During one portion of the evening, Frank, Lori, Scott and Tom headed out to the "Grandmother's room" to conduct an EVP session. One of the reported activities is that the "Grandmother" can be partial to who she will allow into that room. Sometimes the door won't open as if someone was holding it shut, but when you ask her permission to enter, the door may suddenly open on its own, so it is considered polite to ask her permission to enter. Earlier, a few other members had already gone into the same room, set up cameras and conducted an EVP session. When they were done, they closed and locked the door to the room when they left. When we had arrived, I asked her permission to enter the room and just when I was about to insert the key to unlock the door, the door opened inward by itself.
We entered and began our EVP session hoping that she would appear to us. Many pictures were taken and audio was recorded but aside from was recorded but aside from the closed locked door opening for us by itself, there wasn't any thing paranormal caught on our cameras. We locked up and went back to the main dining room to check in with the team that had remained there to conduct EVP sessions.
Seeking out the unknown with T.Az.P.R.S. investigators, Arizona republic reporter Scott craven and photographer Tom Tingle went along with the various groups throughout the ranch. The "bunkhouse", the "grandmother's room" and the "labyrinth" were visited by all at different times of the evening. Many digital still pictures were taken and many EVP questions were asked and recorded by investigators hoping for recorded responses.

T.Az.P.R.S. Southern Region Lead Investigator Roxanne Newman explains a few personal experiences... While sitting in the kitchen area watching the DVR monitor, I had heard the back door open then close. The sound of footsteps and shuffling was heard and recorded, yet there was nobody there. Angie and I wanted to get into the "grandmother's room" but I could not get the door to open. I called Lori on radio and she suggested that we ask permission to enter. Angie asked twice and nothing happened. I then asked in a very polite respectful voice and as everyone else came around the corner, the door opened. Even though i had found out that I was using the wrong key, the dead bolt still unlocked on its own and the door opened. All night long I had been feeling what felt like fingers running through the underside of my hair. This pulling at the under side of my hair had occurred off and on throughout the night. While Angie and I were in the "bunkhouse", my digital still camera had lost its display screen. When I asked out loud, "do you have my screen", it flashed on. When I said out loud "If you want us to leave then give me my screen back". It then popped back on". "When I was trying to take a picture of the building across from the dining room, I would loose my screen, turn away from it and ask for it back and it would come back on. This was witnessed happening several times by both Angie and Randy". T.Az.P.R.S. Central Region Investigator Eric Wenzel explains his personal experiences... While Angie and I were in the "Grandmother's Room", we both heard a "whoosh" sound but it was only audible to our ears. This was not picked up on audio. While viewing the monitor in the kitchen area, there was the sounds of someone walking around in there. I got up to investigate on two occasions but could not locate the source. After monitor duty, I found out Roxanne had experienced similar sounds as well. While in the "Bunkhouse", Philip and I smelled a musk odor that moved from room to room.

After a few hours of investigating, Triangle T owner- Linda Kelly and her assistant Tonia Larson fired up the grill. Orders were taken and we all sat down and feasted with some of the finest grilled ribs and hamburgers ever. Thanks Linda for your fine cookin'. After our feast, we went back to investigating in the dining room. The groups swapped places and went into other areas that they hadn't been in yet. As the other T.Az.P.R.S. teams investigated, Tech Director Randy Arbogast and the energy emitting devices he built for T.Az.P.R.S. was the topic of conversation between founders Frank Madrid, Lori Marshall and The Arizona Republic's Scott Craven and Tom Tingle. These devices have provided us with more recorded class "A" EVP than ever before. The results of the utilization of these devices have been phenomenal in past investigations and we were looking forward to the analysis of audio, digital pictures and video from this investigation.

This is a photo taken by a motion sensor camera placed in the kitchen. The black mass is unexplainable. We believe that it triggered the motion detector setting off the camera. Although there are many faces seen in this photo, which may be due to visual pareidolia, the close up below shows the more prominent faces located at the top of the black mass. photos by Angie Smith

This photo was taken in the upper dining room. What is seen in the right window, left column, second pane down is what looks like a dark haired woman with her hair up in buns. Could this be the "maid that has been seen in this room? In the upper right pane of the window on the left is what looks like another woman looking in at us. (mouse over) Photo by Roxanne Newman

conclusion
The Triangle T Guest Ranch promises times of restful peace, many activities of enjoyment, great food, good company and accommodations for all. But for those who seek it, the Ranch can also provide an eerie environment for the interested paranormal enthusiast to enjoy as well. Chances are, they will experience activity at some point during their stay. With undeniable evidence such as Electronic Voice Phenomena captured and recorded, still pictures showing the shadow behind the lower dining room chair, the dark haired women caught in the upper dining room windows (one woman who is clearly wearing her hair in bun fashion), the image caught by motion sensor camera in the kitchen area, footsteps heard in the gravel and the personal experiences of investigators, we have to say with confidence that the Triangle T Guest Ranch indeed shows evidence of being haunted. Haunted by who and by how many may be forever unclear as there seems to be more spirits in the area than anticipated. With the colorful history behind the Dragoon area, there are many spirits of native Americans as well as U.S. Calvary Dragoons. Care takers of the ranch shouldn't worry about the unseen guests though, as they are merely seeking attention and do not mean any harm. We had an awesome time finding out this information and will look forward to possible future investigations.

The investigation went well. There were personal experiences, digital still photo evidence, audio recordings of EVP and a wonderful meal cooked for us. We couldn't have asked for a more gracious hosts than Ranch Owner, Linda Kelly and her assistant Tonia Larson. Footsteps were heard in the gravel out by the Labyrinth and board walk when there was no one there. Locked doors seemed to open on their own and voices were recorded coming from no where. At one point, the back door of the kitchen opened and closed when no one was around.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ranch Owner Linda Kelly for extending her hospitality to T.Az.P.R.S. and for letting us investigate the Triangle T Guest Ranch. It will be an experience that we will remember forever. We would also like to thank her assistant Tonia Larson for helping arrange this wonderful investigation. Another word of thanks goes out to the Arizona Republic's reporter Scott Craven and photographer Tom Tingle for attending this investigation with us. Having them along was a great experience.
